Dr. Tanaka received her Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and did a post-doctoral fellowship at Simon Fraser University. She received her graduate certificate in Behavior Intervention for Autism from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, and went on to become the first behavior analyst in Japan. She is currently the president of the Asia Pacific ABA network, and has published widely in the fields of history, anthropology, bilingualism, behavior analysis and other fields. This course was created as a mutual project between Dr. Tanaka and Dr. Heilveil.
